Bob & Darcy have a very big garden. Since we live in a flat, it's such a treat for Lemmy to spend the whole day in a garden.

The flowers need some watering. Another of Lemmy's fav things to do!! Watering the plants, and getting wet of course!

This is a lot of work!

Yesterday Lemmy helped me bake a chocolate cake for daddy. He was rather excited because it reminded him of the episode in Peppa Pig where Peppa and mummy make a chocolate cake!
It was a special occation. Daddy's birthday! It's so great now that Lemmy can fully get into all the celebrations.

This was our day.

Time to decorate the cake we made together. Lemmy put the dulce de leche.

Oh no, mummy my finger got sticky! clean it up please!

Lemmy hasn't try any sugar yet. When I made the cake with him, I wasn't gonna let him have any. But as the cake was done, he ask: Is this cake for Lemmy too? So, I guess he can try just a piece, just this once. The cake was a very yummy crazy chocolate cake recepie, adjust for my own tastes. No dairy, no egg, brown sugar ( but only a little bit) and pure organic cocoa. So I guess it's better than bought ones at the end. Lemmy was so excited to try it! He kets saying: Delicious! Delicious! Do you like it mummy? Do you like it daddy?

He had 3 bites all together and off he went to play.

Later on, daddy had to work. On his birthday! But he wanted to...so off we went to the Fly Worship stand. Lemmy quickly got all his cars out and felt at home.

Easter came and went and we hadn't painted any eggs! I found this kit for really cheap and I thought Lemmy would really enjoy it. I saved it for a day when daddy would be working and there you go! He did love the experience. Mostly he was rather amused that he was painting an egg.

I'm way too behind my own personal blog! I will enter a few entries from the past few months, hopefully I will catch up before the year is over!

I was so excited to go to another photo expo, and so grateful that Marc took me. It was in London, they received us all with some wonderful canapes and drinks. Yummy!

While I took some workshops and watch some great photographs the two boys were enjoying themselves...as much as they could anyways!

I didn't stay for the evening and on the way home, Lemmy was being very funny!

All and all, a good day! :)

24 of April

It was a full on day. I may remember it as the first time Lemmy fell from a skateboard, his first real hurt. It started with some easter cards making for the family.

After the service finished, Lemmy got to jam a bit in the drums which he really loves.

Having fun with all the toys while Marc was sound checking for the night service.

Just before Marc started singing, Lemmy was playing with lots of boys. His favourite thing was to push a dolly push chair through the corridor. A friend of ours had a skateboard, I watched him helping Lemmy to get on it. I went to get water ( right by him), and one second later I heard a big crash and a cry. I felt so sad to see his lips bleeding and Marc just started to play! Poor Lemmy, it was his first big fall, here are some photos afterwards when I took him to play a bit.

He found Thomas, and that was a treat!

Later on, after he cheered up, he went to the spot when he had the fall and told me and anybody who was there (willing to hear), the whole story of his fall. He proudly said: I have a BIG owie! Bless him!!

The two boys in my life. My two big loves. I like this photo so much because even though it looks as if I told them to sit in that rock and pose, that wasn't the case. Marc and Lemmy were playing and then sat for a "rest". I was taking photos of their playing time and then I capture this moment that only lasted a second. First Marc sat, then Lemmy followed him and sat next to him, both looked at me. Lemmy still holding the stick. To this day ( this was just 1 year ago) Lemmy loves that photo! I have it in a huge frame at home. It is very special.

It's easter holidays. Lots of fairs going around. When Lemmy was 1 year old we took him to the same fair. I wanted to take him now that he is almost 3. Lots of fun things to do : rides, big slides, trampoline, petting chicks and bunnies among other things. Once we did everything, we headed to the park for a pic nick, swings, scooter rides and more.

So, let the fun began!

I had some work at a studio with a friend. Marc was looking after Lemmy in a park near by. It was another lovely warm day. It felt almost wrong to be stuck inside a studio in such a lovely sunny day. The sunny warm days are so rare in England that I feel like I'm gonna missed out if I'm not out! But, at least the days are longer, so as soon as I finished we went for a short pic nick for dinner with my little family. It was a sweet time.

Around this time in England we had some lovely weather. When it comes, almost as a surprise, we must go out! So, London Zoo it was! My highlight was seeing the baby Gorilla :) I love Gorilla's and it was so sweet to see it up close. Since the Zoo closed quite early and it was still sunny and warm, we headed to the park near by. Lots of running. When daddy went to the car to get something, I showed Lemmy a new game I used to play as a child. Lemmy loved the new game and when daddy came back, he proudly taught daddy how to play.

One thing I really wanted to start blogging about is things of our days. Just simply being, having fun, memorable things with lots of photos of course!

So, I will start with Mother's day. A beautiful sunny day. Lemmy showered me with lots of kisses and hugs. The one thing I wanted as a gift were lots of photos with Lemmy. Being the main photographer of the family, means I'm never in the photos, so at least for this day I was in front of the lenses. I followed Lemmy and we did all the things he likes to do : run, hide and seek, search for lady birds and lots of tickles! It was a great day. Marc took these photos, thank you love! :)

The bluebells wood

Usually the bluebells come late in April or start of May. But this year they came earlier! I was so excited to try my new camera on our walk to the woods. The bluebells were at the primest! Lemmy had so much fun as he loves to be out, runing around, picking sticks...well, those things don't ever change for this little boy!

20th of February

It became a little routine for Lemmy to have oats with milk and bananas for breakfast. Sometimes I cook the oats with water and add a bit of cold milk with the bananas. Other times he eats the oats alone with milk and bananas. Raisins are added at times. This boy could live from that breakfast alone! He loves it, he longs for it every morning. At times he even jumps with joy when it's ready on the table ( if I take too long to wake up in the mornings) screaming : Cereals, cereals!

I think we started giving him oats when he was 1 year old. Since Marc and I decided not to give Lemmy any sugar,Chemicals And Additives , we started reading labels more often for what to offer our son. It is amazing the amount of crap/junk you can find in regular cereals. I read in one nutrition site how one bowl of cereal is equivalent to one Doughnut! auch!
Reading about oats, we found out how good they are for our health. It is the best cereal for all people. It has so many properties and either alone or cooked is very nutritious. Marc and I started to crave that little breakfast for ourselves and when we can, we eat it with some blueberries, agape syrup or honey ( I craved a bit of sweetness, thanks to my sweet upbringing! I wish I was raised like Lemmy in that area!)

8th of February

The sun was shining. You don't get to see that too often over here in England. That fact alone meant the start of a very good day.
I started with a photo session at a Preschool in Harpenden. I loved it and it was a bonus that Lemmy came along and had a great time too.

We had a light picnic lunch under the sunny winter day.

I went to look for some yarn in town. I found a beautiful soft chocolate colour. Then, I found one of the Cabbage patch kids in a Charity shop for only £5. I named her Annie, to be friends of Parker ( the one that I got in January) and Lemmy loved the idea. She survived the washing machine and looked like new. I also found a Jamie's Oliver brand new book with recipes from Spain, I thought Marc would love it!

Lemmy fell sleep in the car, after he had run around the park with daddy, while mummy got some shopping done.
We headed to the Zoo! Here in England, the Zoo closes rather early during winter. At 4pm it shuts down. We had only 1 hour and a few minutes left. We went in the car instead and was fun. First the Elephants ( Lemmy's favourites)

On the way home the car started to over heat. Finally Marc decided it was better to stop and call the service to come and check it out. Lemmy was super excited that a tow truck was on its way to rescue us! He kept on saying : The truck will rescue us! rescue us...etc...he was sooo chirpy and happy about it!
We went outside and had a run around by the side of the road, while waiting. We ran, took some photos, and laughed. We were there for 1 hour that seemed only a few minutes. Until it started to get dark and cold, so as we headed to the car for some snacks and drink, the tow truck showed up! Lemmy was over the moon! ha ha

I got home and went through the photos of the day. I Loved them all. It was a very full day, a very good day indeed.

A lesson to be learned

21st of January

Today was one of those days. After many interrupted nights of being woken up by Lemmy's agitated bad dreams, last night we finally had a good full long night of sleep. Why is it though, that when you sleep a bit more you still feel more tired? One of those days...
Marc had to play tonight and there were lots of things to get done (as always!) before he left. Playing with Lemmy, eat, shower, and just the essentials.
I don't even know how started but somehow we both got a bit irritated and snapped a little bit. I went to my room to do other stuff while Marc went to the kitchen. I heard Lemmy saying very loudly: Sandwich! Papa! Sandwich! Mama!! Sandwich!! I thought he wanted a sandwich but since he was already in the kitchen with Marc I didn't respond. I hear Marc asking him: Do you want a cheese sandwich?
No! Lemmy said. I want a Papa, Mama and Lemmy sandwich!! So I ran to the living room and we did the "Lemmy sandwich" which consisted of holding Lemmy in the middle while daddy and mummy squish him very tight! He loves this. To be hones we all love it! :) We did this over and over. Papa, Mama and Lemmy sandwich. Suddenly our mood change, we were more playful, more relax. We ended up in our bed being tickle by Lemmy! Lots of giggles, hugs, squishes and kisses. Laughter and joy fill the room. A perfect moment. Marc and I looked at each other and say: who is this little guy? He sense how we were feeling and brought us together in his own little way. How did Marc and I create such a precious, amazing little guy?! We were amazed at his heart, at his love, his sweetness. I need to remember this lesson.

There's something powerful about laughter and closeness. Below are some things I was reading in the book Playful Parenting. It looks like Lemmy (like most children!) knew so naturally the way to bring people closer :)

" In my mind there is nothing so illiberal, and so ill-bred, as audible laughter....I am neither of a melancholy, nor a cynical disposition, and am as willing and apt to be pleased as anybody; but I am sure that since I have had the full use of my reason, nobody has even heard me laugh."

We often forget the importance of laughter. Giggles and belly laughs are the natural way that children and adults release fears and embarrassment and anxiety. Parents can use this technique of following the giggles to lighten up a conflict or a tense moment.

Sharing a giggle is a basic way to join and connect with children. Laughter automatically brings people closer. So laughing together makes a connection, and making a connection often brings a laugh. Combine the giggles with physical contact, and that is another great way of being close.

Laughter is healing.

I was so excited the day before my birthday that I couldn't sleep at all!
David Beckstead is an amazing photographer, well known for his dramatic compositions and doing destination weddings all over the world. His style is very unique, very different. I heard about him and knew of friends who have taken his workshops and loved them! When I found out he was doing a workshop in London and just happened to be on my birthday, I decided to go for it! Thanks to my wonderful husband who gave me that present among other surprises :)
I really really loved every minute of it. He is such a good teacher and warm person. He challenged us to leave our comfort zones, to step out from our "safe shoots" and try new things, experiment, take chances and be different. So that's what I did! It's not my style but I loved experimenting and learning new technics. It was also fun to meet some very cool people. Here are some of the shots of the day.

Snuggles in the middle of the night.

13th of December

My beautiful sweet boy started with a cough a few days ago, follow by a runny nose and then a fever. The cough got worse by day 3, and the fever would come and go. I have never in his short little life seen him so bad. Droopy and drowsy. The first 2 days with the cough he was still himself, but day 3 and 4 were the worst. He could hardly leave the couch. We watched lots of Cars, Toy story 2 and Cars again and Toy Story 2 again and again. He wanted to snuggle, sometimes he would say bye bye Cars and try to fall sleep in my arms while snuggling a bit closer. It was so sad. At one moment I got so scared I couldn't help but cry. He looked at me with his droopy eyes and asked me: mummy, are you ok mummy? Oh, my sweet love. More concerned about how I was doing than himself. Of course! At this age, mum and dad are his world! It was hard to pull myself together but I had to, at least until daddy got home.
Since the nasty cough or the sweats from the fever made Lemmy wake up many times in the night, we let him stay in our bed. Meaning, he shared the big bed with daddy and I crashed in his bed so we can all have more sleep that way. The first few days he was in such a state that as soon he squeaked I was in the room in a second ( our flat is that small) to snuggle him, dry the sweats, give him water and stay until he fell back to sleep. By day 5 he seemed much chirpier, he actually felt like leaving the couch to play, paint, jump a bit and finally eat some food. His coughs got fewer in the day and the fever disappear. Yesterday, he was sleep by 7pm and a few minutes later he woke up again, to find him sweaty and thirsty. Fell sleep. A few minutes later he woke up again, very upset. I went quickly, and after checking everything was ok, he snuggle and fell back to sleep. When I tried to leave he kept moving his arm in the air ( eyes closed) trying to find me, reaching for me and then began to cry when he was realising I was about to leave. I stayed a little bit longer but by the 3rd time he was "asleep" and try to grab me when I was leaving I got a bit annoyed and left anyway. He began to call me and cry. This time I didn't rush right away. I drank some water quickly, washed my hands, and a few seconds later I came into the room and try to explain Lemmy that I wouldn't stay all night by his side ( that was daddy's job- which by the way he does sleep while I can't- ;) I would stay only a little but until he fells sleep. He got more upset! He understands.
While I was laying by his side, letting him play with my thumbs and fiddling with my pinky ( I admit I like when he does that) my mind started to wonder and think.
First I was thinking how nice these snuggle times are. How sweet he is when he is so peacefully half asleep by my side. How warm, how gentle, how soft and lovely this moments are. Then, I started to think about how it must feel to be in his shoes, especially when I took those extra seconds. If I was a 2 year old, who was in pain while coughing, woken up thirsty and started to call my mummy and she wouldn't come ( A few seconds in a 2 year old is not the same amount of time for us, adults) How would that make me feel?? I thought to myself, I would feel unheard, lonely, rejected, my mummy who always meets my needs so quickly in the day time, why is she taking so long now? It didn't feel good to think myself in his shoes. Actually, it would apply even if he is not ill. How many times an adult wakes up because suddenly is thirsty? or had a bad dream? and the list can go on...that's how they comunicate to us. Even though it was only a few seconds for me, it was longer for him, and I could see it in his eyes and cry. Lemmy now understands the word sorry and he quickly stopped crying and snuggles back. He pads me on the back. Then I thought what kind of father my God is. He never ever leaves my side. In fact, he reaches out to me out before I know I need him. He is constant, he is present, he never leaves me alone to suffer, he never shows up late. Sometimes he may remain silent but his love surrounds and comforts. We are the ones who sometimes don't feel God's presence or think he is far away, when in fact he never left.
Of course I'm not omniscient like God, though I wish I was sometimes! ha! But Im his child and I crave to be a little bit like him each day. And to be honest, to be near my son and comfort him is not a sacrifice, I love doing it. It is harder for me to do that when I have an agenda but when I let go of the earthly things then I realise what is of real importance now.
I mean, life is already full of cruelty, injustice, illnesses, unfairness, meanness...why would we want to add a bit more unnecessary pain into it?

7th of November

Marc had a church gig in my friend's church on that sunday. I had the chance to meet up with her, catch up and see her beautiful kids. We all had a lovely time. Grace was only 8 weeks old, so tiny and super cuddly. I didn't hear her cry all day! What an angel. Daniel is the same age as my 2 year old boy so they play non stop. I love seeing them giggle and play so nicely together.

Is so easy to be overwhelmed in your daily day. I don't remember feeling like this when I was in my 20's, or maybe I did at a certain level but is gone from my memory!
Maybe is the having the responsibility of raising another human being, that everything we do or say will shape this person in what they will become later in life.
Maybe it is that when we grow up there is more things on our to do list.
Maybe is because suddenly life is getting shorter.
I remember when days were going so slowly while in school. I couldn't wait for a holiday break, I couldn't wait until I was old enough to go out on my own, I couldn't wait to finish high school. Everything went in slow motion.
Now, it seems like it's speeding away. I have more grey hairs, I have accumulated more kilos than ever before ( and I'm not doing anything to lose them!) and the list goes on...
Decisions and decisions. Stress of stressing out. It's proved that happy stressless people are healthier. So, let's try not to stress out, so then I stress out about trying not to stress out! and the cycle continues.

I have to admit that when I start feeling like the whole world is falling apart around me, and I feel dry inside, it has to do with a part of me being left to dry out. My soul, my spirit. When was the last time I read your word God? I asked myself. Since I took the decision to follow God, there hasn't been a day I haven't talked to him, so even when I haven't spend time on his words, I have always talked to him, he is my everything. Yet, I know when I don't spend time on his written word, my soul gets thirsty and then I can see how it starts to affect me in my daily life.
As soon as I immerse in his word, it is literally fresh water for my soul.
I cried today as I read these words in my daily bible reading :

   You whom I have upheld since you were conceived,
       and have carried since your birth.
       Even to your old age and grey hairs
       I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
       I have made you and I will carry you;
       I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

I lost my dad when I was 13 years old. Then, Jesus became my real dad. He has sustained me, he has comforted me, he has become my true dad. I have been through many things, many places, many adventures and He has always carried me. I have proof. He has been with me since before I was conceived, in his thoughts. How powerful that is! Just think of that for a moment. What else can I say? Once more, my father reminded me that He is with me and always will be.

My sister says that photos of flowers remind her of those devotionals or bible verses that they always come attached with flowers, so here it goes for you Adri, I finished my little insights with some bluebells. God's pretty creation. :)

What I can remember for the past 2 weeks

350- I learn how to use iwork for my finances
351- I got offer a job to shoot candid photos at a wedding, pay of course! :)
352- To see Lemmy's joy when I say hello from the balcony ( he was gone to the park all morning with daddy)
353- Lemmy running to see me and hug me tightly after he is back from the park
354-Playing with Lemmy and all his puppies
355- Entering in the magic wonderful world of a 2 years old mind while playing
356- A big clean day
367- Lemmy has been sleeping since 6ish,7ish until 7:30am. Getting ready for winter routine!
368- Lots of new clothes for Lemmy who is out growing the others so quick!
369- A nice lunch out the 3 of us :)
370- A gorgeous couple wants me to take their wedding photos :)
371- The little funny observations that Lemmy makes : Pinguinos no tienen pilin! ( Penguins don't have willies)
372- Lemmy playing with daddy's new ( borrow) pedal steel, he has music deep within!
373- October the 1st, Lemmy went to get his potty, brought it in the living room, and then say: uuuy no, sucio ( dirty) pointing to the bowl full of pee. He had done his first pee pee ( we haven't started the training yet!) and we all missed it! It was in the 1 minute he had no nappy on before bath time! clever boy!
374- A friends lend Marc a pedal steel, which he loves!
375- Autumn colours
376- Nice sunny afternoons with my family out and about
377-Eating out, yummy food and not dishes to wash!
378- We saw a baby Zebra at the Zoo

I don't remember when it actually started, but we got into the routine of me and Lemmy cuddling and telling each other things of the day right after the bed time routine is over. It soon became one of my favourite parts of the day.
Dinner done, bath time done, teeth done, story time with daddy and mummy or one of us, etc.
Usually he likes to listen to music before bed, and goes straight to sleep. Most of the time, we do the above. Cuddling and sharing our stories. I love how he not just tells me things from that day but also things he did or saw long time ago. Precious little one!

Tonight was a loong bed time. He was so chirpy, and excited and happy that he couldn't settle easily.
I wanted to write these things now, cause I don't want to forget. Some of the things that Lemmy said to prolong his bed time. ( This took place after bed time routine )

Lemmy: Vamos alla, mama? ( Let's go over there, mum?) - meaning: living room.
Mum: No, Lemmy is time to sleep now.

Lemmy goes inside the bedding and pretends he is sleep, then suddenly takes the cover off and says loudly: Lemmy se desperto! ( Lemmy just woke up!) -you got to love him!-

Lemmy: awww, galletita? ( cookie?)
Mum: no, Lemmy. Is not time to eat now.

Lemmy: Queso? ( cheese?)
Mum: Not now Lemmy

Lemmy: Awww yogurt?
Mum: Is time to sleep now, Lemmy ( I actually speak spanish to him, but I didn't want to translate everything twice!)

Lemmy: Aguita? ( water?)

Mum calling daddy for some water. Daddy comes in with water.

Lemmy: More food papa?
US: no Lemmy, is time to sleep now.

Lemmy:Mama? Me pica, mama. ( Mum? is itching mama..itching)
Mum: What is itching son?

Lemmy : Aca ( here), aca, aca. ( while pointing one wrist, the other one and his neck)

Lemmy drinking water, me checking his wrists and neck.

Lemmy: torta? Una torta grannnnnde? ( cake, a big caaaake?)
Mum: ah, ok tomorrow we can make one, but not tonight.

Lemmy: Tocar bateria? ( play drums?)
Mum: Which drums do you want to play? Jimmy's or Tim's?

Lemmy: Tim's!
Mum: laugh...ok, but now it's too late to play.

Lemmy : Abu esta sacando los pelos ( Abu is cleaning the hairs)
Meaning: My mum used to play with Lemmy cleaning the duster and brush when it started to get full of hairs! What can I say? Marc and I have long hair!

Lemmy: Y Tia Adriana esta secando el pelo ( and antie Adriana is drying her hair)
This is what she did the last day she was with us I think.

So, between jumping, running off the bedroom to get us, laughing, and ok...lots of tickles and kisses too. He finally gave in and fell sleep, after a looong talk.

11th of September

Lemmy has been going through a rough patch. Not sure if it was all the changes of the last month, going to a festival for 15 days, routine out of the window, and not seeing daddy so much. He was a bit off when we got back. I mean, he was still the sweetest little boy I know! But sometimes my patience was not existent thanks to his tantrums. When I said no, he either screamed, kicked, hit, punched, pulled my hair, or daddy's ( including beard) who was this child? I refused to believe he was getting into the famous terrible 2's. My son? no way!

It is a fact ( after reading many parents books, searching in the web,etc) that at this age they start experiencing lots of strong feelings. Some how overwhelming for their little being. They can't control it, they just can't! They need to be understood, they need to express, and is all too much for them. This is the key age of discipline. So, instead of screaming back, or telling them off loudly ( just comes out naturally sometimes!), the way to show them how to deal with all this feelings of anger, disappointment, etc...is with a very calm soft speaking mum or dad. Talking through, explaining, leading by example as per say.
This way they will know how to react and how to manage their anger.

Well, I have to say, Im not perfect in any way. There was the occasional scream back (not too loud) but it was there. To feel terrible later, to ask him to forgive me and to move on...things kept being the same.

Marc and I talk last night and we knew that we needed to reinforce the gentle spirit that somehow got lost in the middle of the battle of the wills. Also, to add more quality time, doing all that he enjoys to do with him 100 %. No distractions.
And guess what? It does work!

Today was a good day. I prayed for God's grace, patience and wisdom, and I felt his grace on me. Since Marc was away, I spend more time with Lemmy doing the things he wanted me to do with him, play-dough elephants, drawing with markers, dancing, tickling, shower in his bath time, playing with the hose and pretending it was a water fountain ( he loves that!) We had an special time. Later on I suddenly heard the fire works. I took Lemmy with a big blanket into the balcony, we cuddled and watched them in the middle of the dark. With all the wonderful colourful fire works all over the sky. Lemmy's first words were : esta lloviendo! ( it is raining) he he, He loved it, he kept asking for more and more, and counting : uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis...until more would appear into the sky.
He had a nice cuddle with Abu first and then me before bed time. He caressed my cheek and thumb and I let him sleep in our big bed. It's a special thing when daddy is away. He has a radar, he knows exactly when Marc is not around during bed times, cause he wont stay in the cot. It's nice to have him around though :) My son.

We made a purple elephant with play-dough, he made 2 drawings. One to welcome my sister Adriana and another one for his cousin Nico, who he loves :)
